WHAT IT IS AND HOW ATARAX WORKS? – DESCRIPTION AND INDICATIONS
Atarax is a drug with antihistamine, sedative and anxiolytic effect.
Atarax is indicated in:
- – symptomatic treatment of anxiety in adults,
- – symptomatic treatment of pruritus,
- – premedication before surgery.
ATARAX COMPOSITION, WHICH SUBSTANCES INCLUDES?
The active substance of the drug is hydroxyzine hydrochloride.

If you have taken or used too much Atarax, contact an ambulance service immediately, especially if it concerns your child. In the event of overdose, symptomatic treatment may be used. The ECG should be monitored because of the possibility of arrhythmias, such as prolongation of the QT interval or torsade de pointes.
Symptoms of Atarax overdose are: nausea, vomiting, tachycardia (increased heart rate), fever, drowsiness, pupillary reflexes, tremors, confusion or hallucinations followed by decreased levels of consciousness, respiratory depression, seizures, hypotension or cardiac arrhythmia and deepening coma and circulatory-respiratory collapse.
